Educational objective

We foster the development of glocally-minded individuals, capable of embracing cultural diversity and creative convergence based on in-depth understanding of the humanities, for the era of the 4th industrial revolution. We train language skills required in the workplace, to enable flexible responses to the dynamic industrial environment. With specialized education through academia-industry cooperation, we focus on training experts in the Japanese language and region for companies, government departments and state enterprises in a wide range of fields such as international and domestic tourism, ICT, trade. and publication.

Educational goals

  • Training Japanese language professionals and regional experts with the outstanding verbal and non-verbal business communication skills required in a glocal industrial environment
  • Training professionals with a deep understanding of the Japanese language and Japanese literature
  • Training professionals capable of contributing to the development of historical/cultural content, tourism, conventions in the region, based on glocal perspective and human insight

Graduates from our department go on to work in a wide range of fields such as education, journalism, research, tourism, interpretation, publication, finance, and at Japanese companies, trading companies, and airlines; they also go on to graduate studies, further studies in Japan, and employment in Japan. With increasing exchange between Korea and Japan, the range of possible career paths is expected to grow in the future. Therefore, students completing the four-year curriculum of the Department of Japanese Language will find themselves well-positioned to enter the workforce with a competitive advantage.
