- Providing opportunities for local high school students to experience advanced technologies linked to Daejeon City's six strategic industries
- Supporting the enhancement of intellectual property creation capabilities through expert special lectures
□ Hanbat National University (President Oh Yong jun) Center for Region Industry University Research Cooperation announced that it operated the 'High School University Linked Strategic Industry Talent Fostering Program (Biz Minds Daejeon) Track 2: Patent Camp' for two days and one night from the 30th to the 31st as part of the Daejeon Educational Development Special Zone project.
○ This camp was prepared to allow local high school students to directly experience advanced technologies linked to Daejeon's 6 strategic industries and support them in growing into practical talents equipped with intellectual property (IP) creation capabilities in the future.
○ With around 60 local high school students and officials, including Jungil High School, participating in this camp, diverse field experiences and immersive workshop programs were conducted at the National Daegu Science Museum, Daegu EXCO (Korea Youth Invention Festival Exhibition Hall), Hotel Geumosan, and other locations.
○ On Day 1, participants visited the National Daegu Science Museum to view advanced technology exhibitions related to Daejeon's 6 strategic industries such as robotics and autonomous driving, and toured the exhibition hall and award winning works of the 'Korea Youth Invention Festival' held at Daegu EXCO, having an opportunity to benchmark outstanding ideas.
○ Subsequently, at night, a special invited lecture by a professional patent attorney was held in the seminar room of Hotel Geumosan, conducting specialized education on understanding intellectual property rights (IP) and strategies for securing rights to invention ideas.
○ Through the patent attorney's practical lecture, students reinterpreted the outstanding invention cases observed during the day from technical and legal perspectives and built fundamental capabilities for patent applications.
□ Based on the ideas derived from this camp, Hanbat National University plans to continue providing support by linking them to actual patent application support and the production of video portfolios capturing individual activity processes so that they can be utilized as assets for students' career paths and higher education.
○ Hanbat National University Center for Region Industry University Research Cooperation Director Ko Jun-bin said, "This 2 days 1 night patent camp will be a valuable opportunity for youth to broaden their technological perspective by stepping outside the classroom to directly experience actually implemented advanced science and technology and outstanding invention achievements of their peers." He added, "We will continue to expand practical education programs to foster future convergence talents who will lead Daejeon's strategic industries and help them settle and grow in the region."
