- Proving design practical competency and teaching method achievements through achievements of both students and faculty

□ Hanbat National University (President Oh Yong-jun) announced on the 23rd that students and faculty from the Department of Industrial Design won the Grand Prize (Kim Tae-young), Excellence Award (Song Hyun-soo) and Advisor Award (Professor Kim Seung-min) at the '2026 Spring Student Design Academic Presentation Competition (DSUS)' hosted by the Korean Society of Design Sciences which boasts the highest authority in South Korea.

 ○ In this 2026 Spring Student Design Academic Presentation Competition (DSUS), the winning papers were selected by combining the on-site presentation scores at the student academic presentation competition among 44 papers that passed a strict first screening.

 ○ As a result, the university secured the Grand Prize for 'A Study on Smart Storage System Design for Improving Case Cart-Based Surgical Logistics Operation (Kim Tae-young, Kim Seung-min)' and the Excellence Award for 'A Study on Drone Control Interface UX/UI Design for Interaction Among Controllers, Rescuers, and Rescuees in Mountain Rescue Environments (Song Hyun-soo, Kim Seung-min).'

 ○ Student Kim Tae-young shared his ambition, saying, “Along with the joy of achieving a good result, this award was a meaningful experience that made me feel once again the possibility that design can help improve complex problems in medical fields in a safer and more efficient direction,” and added, “Based on this experience, I want to continue design and research that can add meaningful value to people and society in the future.”

 ○ Professor Kim Seung-min said, “This award is a result achieved through long and meticulous preparation from research design to the demonstration process design paper writing and presentation” and added, “It is an achievement that proves the excellent capabilities of students in the Department of Industrial Design at Hanbat National University. I hope that this will serve as a stimulus for Hanbat National University students with such excellent talents to compete with world-class experts and grow even bigger.”

□ Meanwhile, the Department of Industrial Design at Hanbat National University announced that it will continue systematic and in-depth practical education and research in the future and take the lead in making an aesthetic and user-friendly world by actively communicating and sharing in the form of academic presentations and contests.
