The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is composed of three foreign language majors, English, Chinese, and Japanese, and four departments, including the Department of Public Policy. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences aims to cultivate talents with global competence, creativity, and the ability to take multidisciplinary approaches through studies of various subjects in the humanities and liberal arts.
We focus on creative education, industry-university cooperation for practical foreign language education, and global competence enhancement through overseas fieldwork by equipping students with practical administrative skills in the fields of law and administration.
At the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, we offer a wide range of programs with the goal of fostering creative talents with global competence, multidisciplinary knowledge and skills, humanistic aptitudes, and practical competencies in their majors. There are also programs to strengthen global competencies for foreign language majors, such as a program to cultivating local experts through overseas fieldwork in an English-, Chinese-, or Japanese-speaking region, the language study and student exchange program with overseas universities, the dual degree program with overseas universities, and the internship program at overseas companies. We seek to strength the creative and convergence education required by modern society through industry-university cooperation projects, team teaching on convergence subjects, job camps for humanities and social sciences majors, and support for student job clubs. Creative work contests and presentations are held to encourage students to pursue higher achievements.
The Department of Public Policy, in particular, aims to train highly qualified professionals who can play a leadership role in the field with professional administrative and management skills that are in line with the current trends in our society. In response to the opening of the market for legal and administrative services in the era of globalization, we provide specialized education to foster human resources with unrivaled competitiveness for the field of public administration and policy. The study of public policy is a comprehensive social science discipline that enables students to efficiently manage complex and diverse state administration and solve public issues.
With excellent faculty members, including foreign professors, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is producing graduates with creativity and global competence based on students’ passion for creation and trust between professors and students. Some of our graduates have entered prestigious graduate schools at home and abroad, while others are gaining recognition for the professional competencies at educational institutions, financial institutions, media agencies, government offices, and companies in various fields at home and abroad. Based on a broad and in-depth liberal arts education, we educate students in the humanities and social sciences that foster their creative and intellectual abilities so that they can become leaders in society.
