HBNU Restaurants You Shouldn’t Miss

By Kang Seo-hyeon, Cub Reporter, Freshman of English Language and Literature

Current HBNU students, what is the first place that comes to mind when you think of the best restaurant near the campus? As a freshman, I naturally discovered great restaurants near campus through recommendations from seniors during orientation. Today, I would like to pass along the helpful recommendations I received from seniors to future freshmen reading this article.

The first restaurant I would like to introduce is ‘Ilmi Dakgalbi Pajeon.’ Its signature dish, Dakgalbi, costs 9,000 won per serving, an affordable price for university students. With many tables available to accommodate a large number of people at once, there is rarely a wait. This place also offers a menu item called “Daksam,” which is rarely found at other dakgalbi restaurants. It is a dish that combines both chicken and pork belly. The price is 1,000 won higher than regular dakgalbi menu. The dish I would like to recommend is the fried rice. The fried rice itself may not be unique, but many customers feel that a dakgalbi meal is incomplete without it. Plus, please note that the restaurant is closed every Sunday.

The second restaurant I would like to introduce is Myomi, a place that almost every HBNU students knows. It is a Japanese restaurant. It has various menus, but there is often a long wait during lunchtime. With many single seats along the walls, it is a great place to enjoy a quiet solo meal especially during less crowded hours. Popular dishes include ramen, rice bowls, and fried side dishes. Among these, I particularly recommend the steak rice bowl. However, if you are living near campus or in a dormitory, please note that the restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Today, I introduced two restaurants that new HBNU students should definitely try. I remember that, especially at the beginning of my campus life, restaurant recommendations from seniors were more helpful than anything else. I hope this article will be helpful for students living around campus or in dormitories.
