Recently, the period of job preparation among young people has been getting longer, and the demand for professional expertise and practical experience is also increasing. Preparing for employment can be challenging. Beyond simply obtaining credits or qualifications, it is necessary to identify a desired career path and prepare accordingly. However, with the variety of jobs and companies available these days, it is not easy for individuals to gather all the necessary information and plan their preparation effectively.

In this context, the Job Center of HBNU serves as a central hub for systematically supporting students in exploring career paths and preparing for employment. However, some students are not aware of what the office offers and therefore do not take full advantage of its resources. It is therefore essential for students to understand its roles and programs clearly and to make use of.

Roles and Objectives

The Job Center is an institution established to assist students in exploring career paths and preparing for employment. In response to the rapidly changing job market, it provides a wide range of services, including career exploration, employment counseling, job information, and customized employment support.

Employment Programs Offered 

1. Career Program

The career programs operated include department-specific job experiences, special lectures, and career mentoring. First, the department-specific job experience programs allow students to visit companies and work sites related to the major through company tours, and receives mentoring from current professionals. Next, the department-specific job lectures explain the career fields and roles of each major by experts, helping students understand the utilization direction of their major. Finally, the department-specific job experience program allows students to visit companies and learn about the roles of alumni.

2. Employment Program

The job center also offers various employment programs. Among them, the field-specific customized special lectures provide information on the recruitment market, job strategies, resume writing, and interview strategies, and the related content is uploaded to the LMS for the student access. The Tuesday and Thursday resume and interview program and the Wednesday theme special lecture provide education on frequently asked question analysis, personality test preparation, online interview preparation, and portfolio writing. In addition, various certification courses such as the Six Sigma GB/BB certification course, AutoCAD certification course, computer application ability improvement course, and ERP certification course are also operated.

3. Employment support programs such as corporate discovery

It provides employment information for public institutions through the Hanjip-an Public Institution and Public Enterprise Briefing Session, and provides recruitment information of companies located in Daejeon Metropolitan City to current students and unemployed graduates through the Hanjip-an Company Fair. The Hanjip-an Strategic Industry Job Bootcamp supports the training of customized talent in the four strategic industries in Daejeon.

4. Graduate-Specific Program

The graduate job matching program helps students improve their job skills through interview coaching and customized job clinics. The special lecture on employment for graduates supports the establishment of application strategies for each company and the analysis of posting. In addition, students can learn from the employment cases of graduates by producing a job success casebook, and share their experiences through mentoring seniors.

5. Youth Employment Policy Promotion Programs

Through the Job Center outreach program and youth employment policy promotion events in the region, policy guidance and counseling are provided. At the Youth Employment Policy Outreach Promotion and Industry–Academic Cooperation Fair promotion events, youth employment policy brunch special lectures and department-specific special lectures are operated together, and policy information and methods of use are also provided. In addition, student participation is being expanded through participation review contests and supporter operations.

How to Apply for Programs and Check Information

The services provided by the Job Center can be accessed and applied for through its website. On the site, students can access announcements and application boards for employment programs, alumni and mentoring information, counseling services, and job postings, as well as receive updates on ongoing programs. This allows students to select and take advantage of the support that best meets their needs.

The Job Center is not only for students who are about to enter the job market but all students. It serves as a support institution for all students, from first-year students exploring their career paths to those preparing for graduation. Although the university already offers a variety of programs and counseling services, students may miss these opportunities if they are unaware of or do not utilize them. There are multiple channels through which students can receive employment-related support, and the Job Center sits at the center of these resources. Taking an active interest in and participating in the various programs can serve as a practical starting point for enhancing one’s competitiveness in the job market.
