Body Profile Side Effect, Unanswered Question

As meetings and outside activities have decreased, due to COVID-19, more and more people are trying to exercise and lose weight in their spare time. The new culture of recording and sharing one’s appearance that was created after a long time and after unceasing effort, has blown up interest in the “Body Profile”, which is to show one’s body after losing weight. Body Profiles are mainly conducted through a contract between a client and a studio. This contract can be a good synergy for a person who needs to lose weight, because losing weight requires a lot of money and time. In addition, you can show the results of your effort through a single photo, which indirectly conveys the message “I succeeded in losing weight!”. However, going on a diet, simply for the “best body profile shot”, can cause serious problems.


  1. Obsession with Food

In order to achieve results within a fixed period of time, expensive exercise and diet plans will be conducted. The body will eagerly wait for the moment when you can provide it with essential nutrients. When the due date for the body profile is over, the body will ask for food as a compensation for the endurance. This will eventually lead you to gulosity. You will not be able to control your appetite, and can even suffer from bulimia, a habit of endlessly eating things, or eating a lot at once. If these symptoms are becoming serious and interfere with your daily life, it is mandatory to seek help from a specialist.


  1. Obsession with Losing Weight

When people are obsessed with losing weight, they constantly think about the past when they were on a diet and exercised, but ultimately failed. Then they feel disappointed in themselves and try to think of more dramatic ways to lose weight in a short period of time. This eventually leaves them trapped in the loop of fasting and bingeing, and in severe cases, they may show symptoms of vomiting. Incorrect eating habits caused by diet compulsion can accompany various medical problems, so people need to be extra careful when they are on a diet. According to those who overcome the above side effects in the process of preparing for a body profile, obsession with food can be improved just by giving freedom to yourself. They also said that it is helpful to investigate one’s eating habits through writing a diet diary. Finding new hobbies or looking for other important things to do to distract your attention from obsession can be a good exit, too.

This article is not telling you to oppose or stop challenging yourself to take a body profile. I want to tell you not to damage your physical and mental health with an unsustainable diet and exercise, just for a beautiful body. The advantages of body profiles are very clear. Body Profiles allow people who were not interested in exercise, to exercise and create regular eating habits with evenly nutritious ingredients. In addition, in the process of preparing, you feel a sense of accomplishment and can raise your self-confidence. Because of these good points, many people regret preparing for the body profile but, at the same time, wish to challenge themselves once again. Perhaps, if there were no excessive diets and exercises, there would also be no stories of side effects with your body profile.


I hope you prepare a body profile for the same purpose as a diary; something that records continual, honest body changes, and not just a “once in a lifetime” event.
